Mental foramen as an indicator of patient’s gender, panoramic study in Qassim province, Saudi Arabia

Introduction: Gender can be determined by numerous pieces of the skeleton structure. Mental foramen is one mandibular components that demonstrate gender. Aim study: to assess patient’s gender analysis mental on panoramic radiograph in Qassim region. Method and material: A retrospective study was performed 400 radiographs. 200 males females were included this study. Panoramic machine used (Soredex-cranex x- ray machine). Several lines measured related foramen: 1-The distance from alveolar crest mandible superior margin 2-The lower border 3-The inferior mandible. 4-The Statistical obtained data carried out using Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0. Chi-square test applied find significant value P ≤ 0.05 considered as a value. Result: The average mean values higher compared females. When comparing right left sides same individual, similar both groups except side which than side. Conclusion: Based collected study, an increased seen all parameters when Whereas individuals two groups. showed significant difference among province, Saudi Arabia.
